On Sunday 22nd October 2023 Rotary Club of Gayaza was Compelled again to visit the Community with a purpose of Donating Assorted items to the Elderly , Educating them about Mental Health , Worshipping with them in their Community church ,Meeting the Elderly and frail senior citizens of the community ,Providing a medical checkup facility which was a Health Camp and also Planting Trees for them .
RC Gayaza visited the Community of All Saints Sir Apollo Church of Uganda Manyangwa. This Church was Celebrating the elderly Members of their Community. They gave a chance to our Public Health Expert Guest speaker to talk about Mental Health in their Church as we worshiped with them. This was very engaging, Members of the church participated actively by asking questions and answering them.
Mental Health day is commemorated on 10th October and the Rotary Club of Gayaza Commemorated it by bringing on board a Public Health Specialist Guest Speaker called Mr. Herbert Mayemba . The Public Health specialist gave a very informative talk about mental health. He pointed out on causes like living a pretentious life which can lead to denial, he also pointed out that to some extent everyone has an element of Mental Illness. He advised the community to manage their environment and accept who they are by Managing depression, age, challenges and accepting who they are by avoiding fear, stress and manage their Emotions.
All Saints Sir Apollo Church of Uganda Manyangwa has been very Impactful in that community for the past 100 years which were celebrated recently in August. The Church has a fully-fledged primary school on their premises and also is a Historical site for it holds the Tomb of the Late Sir Apollo Kagwa which is sheltered in a very nice building.
The Club delivered Assorted Goodies to help facilitate the Elderly members of the church and also partnered with the People’s Community Hospital to provide Medical Checkups. The medical checkups ranged from checking Blood pressure, Sugar levels , Eye checkups and also providing Immunity booster dozes for Malaria and many other Vitamins where given to the Old people .
Planting Trees is the Rotary club of Gayaza signature project , therefore many trees were planted an somewhere given to Individuals to take to their homes . These Trees included Shelter, fruit and mosquito repellant trees.
Rc Gayaza closed this day by Uplifting a Boy Child and forming an Alliance with the Community Football Club FC Manyangwa. Rc Gayaza is going to sponsor this club by buying for them 20 Jerseys which are worth two Million shillings in preparations for their Football League which is slotted on 29th October 2023. Rc Gayaza is the major sponsor of this Match.
